WOC 2015: Scotland!

Scotland will host the World Orienteering Championships for the third time, after their successful bid to host the championships in 2015 was chosen ahead of Sweden.

WOC 2011: Qualification

Britain came through the three WOC qualification races in France successfully, with five from six qualifying for the long final on Wednesday, and four from six qualifying for the middle final on Thursday, and this morning all six (eventually) qualified for today's Sprint final.

Orienteering at 2013 Maccabiah Games - Maybe

The Maccabiah Sports Committee has conditionally agreed to include the sport of orienteering at the Maccabiah Games in 2013, provided the Israel Sport Orienteering Association (ISOA) submits a list of 50 non-Israeli Jewish orienteering athletes by July 31, 2011.

JWOC Long

The second race of the 2011 Junior World Championships was the long distance. Again, no qualification races just a straight final with 7.6km for the women and 11.1km for the men over the fast beach forest hills.

JWOC Sprint

JWOC 2011 opened on Sunday with the sprint distance in the small town of Lebork in north Poland. With no qualification race it was a straight final with 134 women and 164 men from 36 nations.

Venla/Jukola 2011

Sweden dominates Middle Distance

On the second competition day of the 2011 ISF World School Championship in Primiero, Italy, Swedish athletes won in four out of eight categories. Marcus Andersson got first place in the M1 selected teams category, Anton Johansson was the fastest in the M1 School teams category. In the same female classes, Frida Sandberg and Olivia Kollberg ruled.

ISF Worlds: Tomorrow Middle Distance

Again the stunning landscape of Val Canali will be the backdrop of the Middle Distance race to be held tomorrow, second event of this ISF World School Championship of orienteering taking place in Primiero-Vanoi Valley below the Dolomites this week.

ISF Worlds: Long Distance, Sweden and Italy rule

The first winners were crowned at the ISF World School Championship in Primiero today. In the Long Distance competition, the favourites from Sweden and the local heroes from Italy orienteered to victory in seven of eight categories. The last Gold medal went to Austria.

1:10,000 vs 1:15,000 - Elite Runners vs IOF & other elite runners

Elite orienteers are taking a stance against IOF, following their refusal to consider the organiser's request to use 1:15,000 maps for the WOC classic in France next year, with Anne Margrethe Hausken starting a petition and Facebook group to gather support. However other orienteers have also added their weight behind retaining 1:15,000 maps for classic races.

Park World Tour: wins for Jansson and Østerbø

Following Friday's tricky qualification at Scone Palace, Perth City Centre hosted an exciting and contrasting Park World Tour final on Saturday, as the technical orienteering through narrow alleyways proved as difficult a test as avoiding startled shoppers for some of the world's best orienteers with Helena Jansson and Øystein Kvaal Østerbø victorious.
