fcc::trossachs
The trossachs, for the uninitiated, are one of the toughest orienteering areas in the World, let alone Britain. Steep slopes, big hills, deep (as in Tullie-eating!) heather, swamp-like marshes and base-jumpable cliffs. And that was just the walk to start.
Round two of this years FCC was a entirely different battle compared with teh previous days chasing sprint, but the names at the top of the boards were very similar.
There was big success for EUOC in the 20's class where Scott Fraser and Alison O'Neil both did a weekend double, and were ahead of Oleg Chepelin and Kirsten Strain respectively, showing that the new winter training regime at Edinburgh may pay-off this year.
There was a surprise finisher in 3rd on the Mens course, where Douglas Tullie beat all his elder rivals - including his big brother - to score maximum points in the M18 class. Andrew Llewellyn took second and Kyle Heron was third.
Rebecca Roberts was first W18, beating all bar Alison from the 20s as well, while Rose Hodkinson backed up her Chasing Sprint Win with a second place leaving Jess Halliday to take third.
The FCC competitors now turn their attentions to the South East, where they will contest the next two rounds on Bloom Woods and Hambledon this weekend.
