jec :: relay
The weekend of the Junior european Champs was finished off today with the relays. For some of the juniors it was the last major event for them as a junior so wanted to go out in style.
Oleg Chepelin did just that and continued his good form over the weekend by pulling out one of the fastest 2nd leg runs. This along with two fast times from Duncan Coombs and Scott Fraser kept the GB 1st team in contention all the way for a top finish. They ended up in 6th place only 48secs off 3rd place, an impressive display. The mens relay was won by Czech Republic. GB mens team 2 also did well finishing 17th in what was a competitive relay.
In the womens it was Tessa Hill, Rose Hodkinson & Ruth Holmes who made up the 1st team who all put in solid displays bringing the team back in a very credable 12th place. The 2nd team were not far behind finishing in 18th place. The relay was won by Norway after a tight fight with Czech Republic who ended up in 2nd.
Another JEC concluded and yet another set of impressive results from the GB Juniors showing that British orienteering continues to improve & get stronger. Congratulations to all and good luck to those who are stepping up into the senior ranks next year.
