Over 260 juniors from 14 clubs competed today at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Nottinghamshire for the Yvette Baker Trophy. As expected, the competition was exciting and up to the time of the last finishers the result was not clear cut. Nottinghamshire (never out of the top 3 in this competition) held off the strong challenge from last year’s winners, Octavian Droobers (Warwickshire) by 879 points to 876. Nottinghamshire’s 3 class winners Joy Hodkinson, Jenny Evans and Alison O’Neil made all the difference and they were backed up by a strong team.

It was good to see new clubs competing for the first time from Berkshire, Bristol and Hertfordshire and big teams from Cleveland, Notts, Warwickshire and Worcestershire helped by their strong club – school links.
