Emily Benham in action yesterday (Courtesy MTBOEC)
Emily Benham once again took sprint silver in the European Mountain Bike Orienteering championships, replicating last year's result but missing out on Gold by an agonising one second margin.
Following on from yesterday's bronze medal, Emily blasted round the 3km course on the somewhat flatter area of Smiltynė in a time of 17:48, one second behind yesterday's winner Gaelle Barlet of France and almost a minute clear of Natalia Scherbakowa of Russia.
Ian Nixon was Britain's top man today in 30th place, 3½ minutes down on winner Tobias Breitschadel in a tightly packed field. Breitschadel, from Austria, won the 4.5km course in a time of 19:55.
Meanwhile Britain's Sarah Bayliss of SPLOT continued her successful week, once again winning the W40 class convincingly.
