Squad Support Grants
Squad Support Grants
There exists a fund whose aim is to help elite orienteers with a personal programme of training and competition to develop as top level orienteers. The funds originally came from savings made during the '80s and '90s on training camps, the organising of a training event and running the finish at World Veterans 1994 (in Scotland) and donations of expenses etc by some athletes and staff . In recent years the fund has been supported by various fund raising initiatives by past and present squad members. The fund was originally used to support the training and racing plans of squad athletes. Now the squad is small and, for those in it, relatively well funded so the eligibility has been widened to include any elite orienteer (foot-O only) who is aiming at top level international competition.
