World Ranking weekend in France, 2-3 October 2010
Yes, you can do four races in two days! The web site is now up an running in english (www.wcup2010.fr).
Annecy is beautiful place to be in the autumn.
Sunday morning is the centre piece of the weekend, on the Semnoz hills, high abover the lake. The terrain is challenging limestone with mixing runnability & frightening detail almost everywhere. The forest was chosen to challenge the world's best in something similar to the terrain of the 2011 World Champs, which wil take place not far away. 1,000 runners are expected. The day combines a World Cup leg, for the World Elite, a World Ranking Event & a French National Ranking event, so competition at the top should be fierce!
Saturday is chock full of good things:
In the morning, a middle/model event in a forest at the bottom of the Semnoz.
In the afternoon, an Orientshow on the lawns by the lake. All the controls are visible from the start/finish. Running time is 3-6minutes. No control codes, but penalties for mispunching. Can you keep "full speed & no mistakes" when everyone can see what you're doing?
In the evening: A World Ranking Night Sprint in Annecy's beautiful Old Town. It's full of canals, alleys & historic buildings, so expect a memorable event.
