GUILDFORD ORIENTEERS PRESENT:
Guildford City Race 2010
Saturday 10th July 10am to 12pm
Join us for this inaugural city race in the heart of Guildford. The event combines tricky sprint legs through the picturesque streets of Guildford and parkland orienteering in Shalford Park, with the finish on an island in the river.
PARKING There will be a £1 parking fee. Parking will be 1km from the city centre, next to the public car park in Shalford Park on A281 at GR: SU998484. Entry for northbound traffic only. If you are travelling from Guildford, please go past the entrance and turn at the roundabout, which is 1 mile further on. Adult start is 10 mins walk and junior start is 5 mins walk (en route to main start) from car park.
Map New map 2010 based on ISSOM (brush up on those map symbols), surveyed and drawn by Graham Gristwood at 1:5000, 5m contours.
COurses We are setting courses 1-4 around a busy urban centre, and for that reason all runners aged 16 and under are required to run on courses 5 and 6 only. All runners must not run on marked out of bounds shown in purple hashing on the map. Please show courtesy to other pedestrians. Course lengths are subject to final controlling.
Planner/mapper notes: Mixture of urban, wooded, park, suburbs and landscaped bits with underpasses, bridges, islands, narrow alleys, tunnels, castles, multi-storey car-parks - a very intricate urban city centre - but also very hilly! There will be some complex route choices and some really interesting navigation
Entries entries will be open on www.FABIan4.co.uk w/b 24th May. CLosing date 4th July. There will be very limited entries on the day, based on map availability.
