Purple Thistle 2010 - Entries close August 2
Come and enjoy all this and more at the Purple Thistle
You've just got a few more days remaining to get your entries in for the Purple Thistle 2010, which offers top notch barebones orienteering on some of the best terrain in Scotland. The event takes place on 14 & 15 August and is based in and around Balmacara Square, a few miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh and close to the village of Balmacara.
The event offers two days of technical terrain and testing courses in stunning surroundings on the hills above Balmacara, with great views in all directions to distract competitors from their race. The terrain is predominantly open moorland with some contrasting areas of birch and managed forest and plentiful contour and rock detail which will fully challenge competitors navigation skills.
As usual the event will be laid back and low key, with punching starts and a post race trip to the pub to catch up with orienteering friends old and new. We've got basic camping available at the event assembly, and the local cafe will be opening early for campers to grab a pre-race breakfast.
Get your entries in over at Oentries - entries close on August 2.
More details on the event can be found at www.purple-thistle.co.uk or on our previews news article or interview with Day 1 planner Duncan Grassie.
Final details for the event will be available on August 9.
