New free O-simulation The Forest
Snippets from The Forest's displays
This is a completely non-commercial plug for something I have redeveloped after a gap of more than 30 years!
I originally created The Forest for the Sinclair Spectrum and BBC Micro in the early 1980s. Even with the limited capabilities of those machines some orienteers told me they found it a help in interpreting map contours. I have recently rewritten it for current technology and of course it is now very much more realistic.
It runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to install. Please try it at www.myforest.uk
I am hoping for feedback (gr at grelf dot net) about what is still needed to make it really useful as a training aid. If you do find it interesting please spread the word.
More background can be found starting at this page on my personal web site: www.grelf.net/ojsvg.html
I am keen to encourage creative programmers so the whole thing, including its source, is available completely free.
