Fredrik Löwegren, IFK Göteborg and Swedish international was ranked number one in the world at the end of the 2002 season. 2003 was ruined by injuries, he only competed twice in the whole year - but now he is seriously on his way back.

Löwegren has been spending a lot of time in Stockholm working with his physiotherapist to rehabilitate and strengthen his injured ankle. He has responded very well to the treatment and he has been able to increase the quantity and length of his running sessions. In addition he has been doing lots of pool running, a technique often adopted by top athletes when injured. Fredriks main goal for next year is obviously the World Championships in Västerås. "The long break from orienteering makes me very motivated and eager to compete with the best in the world again" says Löwegren.
