jk :: 2007 early information
Well you've just got home from JK2006 and already we've got information on next years event which is taking place on the 6-9 April 2007. Plenty of time to dig out your maps from 1974 it seems!
Individual Races
The individual races will be based in New Beachenhurst/Speech House, typical Forest of Dean terrain which last hosted the JK in 1974. Here the forest consists of mixed mainly runnable woodland covering undulating hills with some steep slopes. Whilst straight is normally best,good route choice can be at a premium. The wealth of detailed features resulting from the areas industrial history; mines, spoil heaps, many charcoal burning platform, pits and depressions add much to the technical challenge. A well established path network including old, railways and tramways links most parts of this forest.
Embargo Details:
All forest between Coleford and Cinderford north of the B4226 should now be regarded as out of bounds by those runners who wish to be competitive.
Relays & Sprint
The Relays will be on completely different very fast terrain. It is hoped to build on the success of the JK2006 Sprint race by adding an Elite/Open Sprint race to the festival. Permissions are being sought for a semi-urban area.
Both the Relay and Sprint will be within 20 miles/40 mins drive of the Individual races.
