Greno Woods: Is it a flat world?
Come and see if the world is really flat (or if that’s just the map) at the Greno woods regional event in Sheffield on 7th May.
The event, which uses the same woodland used for the British Relay Championships in 2003, is sponsored by Flatworld, a Sheffield based company. Flatworld produce Orikaso crockery – plastic bowls, plates and mugs that start life flat and can be bent and poppered into shape. Ideal for camping, or an extra mug for use with your thermos, Orikaso crockery is nifty and lightweight, and you could be in with a chance of winning some at Greno woods.
Flatworld have kindly donated Orikaso sets for all winners of the junior courses, and the organisers are also hoping to supply spot prizes for finishers and prizes for winners of the senior courses.
SYO member Clare Sutherland will also be selling snacks and drinks on the day to raise money for a trip to Greenland in the summer, so there will be plenty to keep you fuelled before and after the race.
Entries are still available online up until Friday 5th May, and the woods promise to be in perfect condition for orienteering at this time of year: ‘even faster than at the British’ says planner Tim Tett.
For more information, online entry and a chance to get your hands on the prizes, see www.southyorkshireorienteers.org.uk
