The South Central will be hosting the Inaugural British MTBO Championships on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th June.
It promises to be an exciting weekend of racing on some of the best terrain available offering fast riding but detailed navigation with the extensive track and path network.
So if you fancy testing yourself against Britains best MTBO racers then see the information below.
Saturdays race at Yateley Heath near Camberley will be organised by Peel Adventure as the Middle Distance Championships with winning times of 50 minutes.
Yateley is an undulating area of forest with a complex track network and numerous single track routes which snake around the area. The map is a specially produced MTBO map by Peel Land Surveys.
Sundays race ‘Around Aldershot’ organised by BAOC, will be the Long Distance championships with winning times of 120 mins on 6 of the maps available around the military training areas of Aldershot. 4 of the maps are new maps from the Long MTBO race in Jan 06. The terrain on all maps is undulating mixed heathland and wooded terrain with extensive path network which makes for some superb MTBO riding.
The Sunday event offers the opportunity of a Long Foot O course as well.
Courses/classes available:
There will be 3 courses provided on each day (2 courses on the Sunday also available as Foot O):
Course A – Men’s Open, Men’s Vets
Course B – Women’s Open, Women’s Vets, Men’s S-Vets
Course C – Women’s S-Vets, Men’s 60 + Women’s 60+,
Men’s + Women’s Juniors, Pairs
The events see the final 2 rounds of the Compass Point MTBO Series. The Mens leaders Steve Heading has so far been unbeatable in all races in the series. But with the largest domestic field promised, including the two Andy’s – Andy Conn returning from his training and racing on the continent and Andy Simpson returning from the US - it promises to be fast and furious as the guys battle it out for the titles. In the womens races Heather Monro has managed to transfer her considerable technical skills to good effect to top the Womens rankings but has some equally close competition from the stars of last years World Champs team and newcomer and experienced Adventure racer Heather Dawe. To add spice to the occasion both races will act as the main selection races for the World Championships in Finland, and the European Championships in Poland.
Entry is available online at Ntrees entries website - www.ntrees.co.uk
Closing date for cheaper entry is 27th May, entries close on 31st May.
Please note you need to pre enter for the Sunday event as the parking and assembly are on military barracks and they need a list of all entrants prior to the event.
