London isn't just for urban adventure racing, but has plenty going on orienteering-wise too throughout autumn.
This weekend sees an event on Hampstead Heath where competitors can enjoy runnable heathland with "some contours and some slightly technical bits". Nine courses will be available ranging from a 1.3km white course to an 8.6km brown course.
Starts are from 10 to 12:00 and the event can be easily reached by public transport. Full details can be found here.
SLOW's street O series kicks off on Tuesday in Southfields and continues once a month until April. Full details on the series can be found here.
The final SLOW Trail Challenge of the year takes place at Richmond Park on the 24th September. A mass start race covering trails and paths the route chosen between controls is cruicial. Offering a range of distances from half marathon to 2km for the juniors the event provides a great opportunity to introduce regular runners to orienteering. Full details of this event can be found here with advance entries closing on the 17th.
