After many discussions on the Nopesport forum and increasing motivation and support of the format in orienteering, Nopesport are proud to launch The UK Cities Cup urban orienteering series!

Orienteering has traditionally been run in rural areas but over the last few years urban orienteering has increased in popularity. The Park World Tour pioneered the high profile, spectator-friendly format and despite the slight demise of the PWT recently, the format has gone from strength to strength culminating with inclusion of the format in races at international level. It has also grown in popularity in the UK with 2007s JK including an urban sprint race on the traditional training day. Now the UK has its own Urban Orienteering series to see who will be the king and queen of the urban jungle!

This Years series, organised and co-ordinated by nopesport, will take the form of 5 races:

Race 1 JK Sprint 06.04.07
Race 2 British Sprint Championships 14.04.07
Race 3 York Park Race 28.05.07
Race 4 Glasgow Race June/July (Details TBA)
Race 5 6 Day Sprint Race 08.08.07

To take part in the series you simply enter the Mens/Women open or 21E class for each particular race and you are automatically included. The top 3 in each race will win prizes with the top 10 gaining points that count for the overall series. Its a grand prix style points system with 1st=12, 2nd=10, 3rd=8, 4th=7points and a point less for every place below that, simple! The person with the most pointswins!

We have some of the biggest prizes on offer in UK up for grabs in this series which is sure to entice you all to take up the challenge of trying to become the UK Cities cup Champion. (more details coming soon)

For this years series we have teamed uo with Rock and Run, EmitUK, and Oentries.com and the series has been endorsed by British Orienteering.

The mission is to produce, and establish within the orienteering calendar, a series of high spectator friendly, exciting races to not only showcase orienteering around the UK, but also test the athletes and find out who is the best urban orienteers! This year we have mostly used races, which are already in the calendar in the hope that more people will take part and the series can be established. In the future however, we hope to open the series up and invite clubs to put forward areas so that the series visits the highest standard of urban race venues the UK has to offer.

For this year, with some superb venues, hopefully some big-name athletes, exciting urban racing and some big prizes up for grabs, The UK Cities Cup promises to be a high-octane, high spectator-friendly race series! Dont miss outENTER NOW!!
