High Intensity Orienteering (Photo: Cliffhanger)

Returning once again following last year's highly successful event, the Garmin Ultrasprint will take place in Millhouses Park, Sheffield on Saturday 12 July.

The Ultrasprint is a high intensity orienteering race, based on the Orient-Show concept developed in Russia and France.

Competitors will run around a variety of terrain including forest, parkland and a specially constructed labyrinth (see map extract below). The fastest runners will have to be able to combine speed and agility with lightning-fast navigation skills. The race will be decided over a qualification round and a final between 11am and 2pm before the event is opened up for the public to have a go. Prizes for this year's event are generously provided by Garmin.

Last year's winner was Mike Sprot, ahead of Marcus Pinker and Neil Northrop following an exciting two rounds of heats and a head to head final which involved 33 controls in 800m!

Other attractions at Cliffhanger include climbing walls, obstacle courses, a film and lecture marquee, a food market, scuba diving, parkour and skateboarding demonstrations and much more. Visit www.cliff-hanger.co.uk for more information.
