Swedish Elite Series
This weekend saw rounds 4 and 5 of the Swedish Elit Series in Falun. The races attracted a large field of the worlds best orienteers.
On Friday there was a short race on the edge of Falun amongst old army barracks and some city forest with good runability and many paths.
In the mens it was really close, just 20 seconds from 1st - 10th. Fredrik Löwegren came out on top with Valentin Novikov in 2nd place, who has been showing some excellent form in the Elite Series with 2 stage wins so far. In the womens Simone Niggli-Luder won her first Elit Serien of the season by 19 seconds.

On Saturday is was the Long Distance held in some tough stoney terrain between Falun and Borlänge.
15960 meters couldn't seperate the men by much, Mats Troeng took gold by just 12 seconds over Johan Näsman, Erik Axelsson was just 22 seconds down on Mats in 3rd. In the women local lady Karolina A. Höjsgaard took the top spot beating Hanne Staff by just 15 seconds. Jenny Johansson was 3rd 1:04 down on Karo, her team-mate Simone posted a very competative time but was DSQ, the reason for which will become apparent when splits go online.
