UKRL - Tie Breaker
In order to avoid any debate at the Scottish Relay Championships this weekend the following has been agreed as the means of deciding the winner of the UK Relay League should there be a tie under the current scoring system.
If the sum of the three counting races is equal then the winning team will be that with the most 1st places in the three counting races.
If both teams have the same number of 1st places then the winning team will be that with the most 2nd places in the three counting races.
Repeat this for 3rd, 4th, etc.
If this still doesn't produce a winner then the winning team will be that with the highest position in the fourth race.
If all four race positions are equal then the Trophy will be shared.
The effect for this year is that the first team home at the Scottish out of OD and SYO will be the 2004 Relay League winners, unless FVO win and neither OD nor SYO finish second in which case FVO will be the 2004 Relay League winners and the tie-break will not be needed.
