Tampere Games
The first set of races in a huge week of Finnish orienteering were the Tampere Games, held last weekend in the same area as WOC 2001.
Jonne Lakanen, the lesser known of the Lakanen brothers took the mens race ahead of Pasi Ikonen and pairing from Halden Skiklubb, Jarkko Huovila and Mats Haldin. Oli Johnson, favouring tese races and some time in Finalnd with his club Espoon Suunta, took 42nd place.
In the girls race Heli Jukola took the win over the two days from past JWOC winner and girlfriend of Pasi, Minna Kauppi. The unknown, at least to me, Paula Haapakoski was third.
