FCC2 Report
Sunday 1st February saw the second race of the Future Champions Cup held in conjunction with National Event 1. Although this was a classic race the winning times were very short for the courses. The terrain was exceptionally fast and navigation was not too challenging.
The surprise result of the day came from Scott Fraser who had been suffering from flu like symptoms several days prior to the weekend. Having jogged round the Saturdays short race he felt like he could put more effort in on Sunday. “I was just cruising” said Scott, who was himself surprised at the [micro]victory over Oleg Chepelin.
Cerys Manning continued her superiority with her second victory of the weekend. Very few mistakes were made by the top runners on the W18, fitness and speed became the biggest decider. Tessa Hill (HOC) finished in an impressive 4th place. Noëmi Cerny, Swiss international, won the W20 course convincingly in under 6 min/k’s.
On the M20 course the 2 fastest times of the day came from Mark Nixon and Graham Gristwood who both had very early runs and no tracks through the bracken. Both were pleased with their technically clean runs.
