event::surrey 5-O
Finishing at Winterfold
The Surrey 5-O competition was being run alongside the World Cup races in Surrey, with many people staying on for the full 5 days. The event was a great spectacle, using the same areas and run-ins, and sometimes the same courses as the World Cup competitors.
In M21L Matthias Niggli (Simone’s husband) of Switzerland proved a very able competitor, winning 3 of the 5 days and taking the overall victory. Top British competitors were Neil Northrop, Rob Baker and Ed Catmur.
In W21L Pippa Whitehouse showed that she is recovering well from her early season injury by winning the 3 races she entered. Becky Carlyle won the overall event with impressive wins on the sprint race at the University of Surrey and middle race on Leith Hill.
