WUOC Middle Results
Some fine performances in todays Middle Distance race gave the British Team high hopes of success in tomorrows relay competition. In the Men's race Ed Nash recovered brilliantly from the agony of mispunching in yesterdays sprint to take 7th place, while Matt Crane came 12th. The Women's race saw good results from all with Helen Palmer and Mhairi Mackenzie in 13th and 14th with Hanna Wooton & Pippa Whitehouse not far behind in 17th and 21st respectively.
For the first time this week it wasn't a Czech woman on top of the podium, Swedens Camilla Berglund preventing their third gold of the week and adding to her own Bronze from the Classic race. Silver and Bronze however did go to Czech runners who must be the favourites for the tomorrows relay.
It was the Slovakians who dominated the podium in the Men's race with 1st and 3rd. Marian Dádítook Gold from the classic race winner Michal Smola with LukáBartájust 2 seconds behind in third.
Tomorrow sees the climax to the week with the relay competition. In the women's race, the Czech's look like the team to beat but after good results throughout the week you can expect the British women to be up there trying to defend their title from 2 years ago. The women's team is expected to be Mhairi Mackenzie, Rach Elder, Helen Palmer and Hannah Wootton. The men's team of Allan Bogle, Matt Crane, Ewan McCarthy & Ed Nash should also figure highly after some great results over the week and some fantastic relay perfomances this year.
