csc :: scottish round
Today saw the Scottish round of the Compasssport Trophy competition held in conjunction with the South of Scotland League race at Normans Law, planned by Graeme Ackland on an area unused for 20 years.
Last years overall trophy winners Forth Valley had to bow down to their rivals in Edinburgh Southern, and although both lost critical junior runners due to a clash with a Scottish Junior Squad Weekend perhaps FVO were worse off for this.
Tayside Orienteers claimed a very good third position to take the final Scottish spot at the final later in the year.
Individually there were wins for John Emeleus (Clydeside) and Janine Hensman (Forth Valley) in the men and womens premier classes. Forth Valley also dominated the Mens Blue, where Steve Barrett won ahead of Gary Longhurst.
There was an Interlopers double on green, where Rob Lee made his comeback to win the mens, while the planners wife, Jane Ackland, won the womens. Elizabeth Sinclair added to FVO's tally by winning the vets class.
AyrOC (formerly Cunoc) claimed a 1-2 in the Light Green course where Christina Condy beat Vicky Cambell, while the Edinburgh clubs dominated the Orange course: ESOC's Katie Cunningham edging out Interlopers Mark Haley.
Conratulations to you all, to Interlopers for a smooth event and to Graeme for well-recieved courses.
