JWOC : : Short
Britain has had an amazing day in Poland today, good runs from the whole team being capped by a podium finish for Alison.
Britain hasn't featured on the JWOC podium since Jamie, JD and Siggy finished 5th in the 95 relay, but today Britain nearly had two on the girls podium. It seems Alison finished 4th and Mhairi 7th (TBC).
In the mens GG narowly missed the top 10, 1 second out in 11th, still a very classy result which should leave him hungry for tomorrows classic.
The winners and newly crowned JWOC champions were Helena Jansson of Sweden and Audun Bjerkriem Nilsson of Norway, club mate of former JWOC and WOC champion Jorgen Rostrup.
Scott Fraser scored a top 25 finish, while Helen Gardner narrowly missed out on the top 30, top class results for these two 18-year-olds. Dan Halliday and Mark Nixon finished in the middle of the pack, where a second lost really is a place dropped. Lizzie Adams also found herself in the pack, in 45th place.
All the team will now be trying to refocus before tomorrows classic distance. As Alison has been having some remarkably good classic races recently - Holme Fell for example - we can hope for similar performances tomorrow.
