With the slightly quieter atmosphere at [nope] hq of late, samsonite thought he would let you all in on what the plans are in the near future for the cartel et al.

Site-wide Login
In the near future the whole nopesport.com site will acquire login capabilities. Everything that is available at this time will continue to be accessible without having to login. We have no intention of forcing everyone to login to view content. The only feature that will be restricted is the gallery. Unfortunately this has become necessary due to the previously unforeseen level of traffic to the site. This huge level of traffic has increased our bandwidth transfer to its limit, and a large part of this is from viewing images in the gallery. Therefore when the login system goes live, you will have to login to view the gallery. This will keep nopesport alive, as it will cut the bandwidth to a level we can afford to pay for.

This login system will feature all your info from when you signed up for the forum, so as soon as the system goes live, you will be able to login. There will be no need to reapply. Similarly, any new members who sign up to the whole site will automatically be signed up to the forum.

There will, however, be advantages to logging in to the main site.
Logged in members will be given access to our new online shop. This shop will be fully secure, and sell [nope] merchandise (more about that later) as well as a few other products. If any readers out there have an orienteering product that they would consider selling through the [nope] shop, please get in touch at shop@nopesport.com.
Members will also receive a free online training diary. This diary can be updated from any web browser and will not require any knowledge of extra software. For a small fee of a few pounds, these diaries can be upgraded to allow upload of routes, heart rate monitor graphs, etc, and allow for a nice URL to give out to your friends/enemies etc, such as http://yourname.nopesport.com.
Other features will include uploading of pictures to the gallery and submission of articles. These photos and stories will of course have to be approved by the nopesport team, but will hopefully speed up the process and get members more involved.

Documents Database
Added to the links page soon will be a database of links to orienteering documents. It was our feeling that there are so many documents out there on the web concerning rules, guidelines etc, but finding them is not always easy. It is our intention therefore, to bring all these documents together so they are easy to find. We have compiled some of these links already, but need more. If you have documents hosted on your server, or know someone that has, please email us at info@nopesport.com. This database will be added as part of the links page redesign, making it easier to find the links you want.

Features Section
The so-far-dormant Features section will come alive very soon. This section will be split into 3 main sections. The first is our attempt at an editorial. Taking it in turns, the nopesport team will rant about whatever items they feel are important at the time. Feel free to not read this section.
The second is the interviews section. Members seem to like the interviews, so we will strive to bring you more of them as and when we can.
The third section, downloads, is much more light hearted. Featured will be some pretty desktop wallpapers, screensavers and Catching Features items. These CF items will include kits and maps. We are aiming to create all UK clubs and as many countries as possible to start with. The maps will include from time to time a map for the Nopesport CF Competition, with prizes. Oh yes. The downloads section will also feature our O Top Trumps PDF. Download, print and cut out to play the game.

Info Section
This section will be receiving an overhaul soon, with all the team added, new photos and more information. Also in the pipeline is a statement of intent. After talking about this for so long in the pub, we created the site and never really stated why. Expect that soon.

Video
We are in talks with various people at the moment about filming a promotional video for the sport in the UK. This will hopefully feature footage in the forest, interviews, trips abroad, and importantly, a bit of banter. If you have anything to contribute to this project, such as footage, equipment, ideas, time, please email us at info@nopesport.com. More about this in future.

Kit
O kit is, in general, horrible. Not for long. We are in the process of sourcing materials for good-looking, scientifically superior kit for orienteering. Without the Scandinavian price tag. We are currently looking for serious investors. Please get in touch at info@nopesport.com if you may be interested. Likewise, if you have anything to contribute, like clothing design experience, links to the industry etc pleas email us. Again, More on this when it becomes clearer to us.

What we want
We are still in debt. There are a few things we need. If you would like to donate anything, please email us at info@nopesport.com. These donations would earn you advertising space on nopesport.com.

Jackets - embroidered, ten of.
Banner - Vinyl or similar, printed, around 3m long

We need these things as we want to provide a contact point at events for people to come and say hi, discuss stories or projects, pick things up, drop things off, and generally provide a real life social centre for our members as well as non members who may be interested in what is going on.
We also want your help. We need code monkeys. We are struggling to keep up with what needs done to nopesport.com. if you have any spare time at all and you would like to help, please get in touch. We can tell you now, you will not get paid, you probably won’t get free stuff and you may not get much recognition unfortunately. But you will be helping the cause. And if we get perks, you will too. You will get the lovely title of “nope support” under your username on the forum.
If you are not a code monkey, you can still help. We need articles, results, links, photos, maps and ideas. We want to cover all events in the UK, not just the big ones, We want to know the results from your local event. We want photos from any events. we want maps from larger events. We want routes from the top runners in larger events. Please help keep the site alive and get in touch. A big thankyou to those of you who have already contributed. Keep up the good work. We would also like you to spread the word even more than you already have. The more people who visit the website, the more likely we are to sell advertising, which in turn will allow us to upgrade features and do more for the community.

Product Tests
We want free stuff. There is no point in hiding the fact. We are poor. We also want to provide reviews of kit and products for our members to read. So if you have any kit or products related to orienteering or outdoor activities in general, please contact us at info@nopesport.com.
