nopesport in 2006
As our daily visitors grow we bring you more to enjoy! The ideas factory in the [nope] dungeons continue to work overtime to bring you some great features and events for 2006.
Events
Purple Thistle, 26th-27th August:
2006 sees the return of the successful Purple Thistle, this time taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Glen Affric, the scene of the WOC 99 Classic race. The event, organised through the newly formed Team Nopesport Orienteering Club (TNS), continues with the same theme of bringing you an event of maximum enjoyment with minimum of fuss in yet another rarely used but high quality area all within easy reach of pre-booked event accommodation. There is even the option of testing yourself against the worlds best by re-running the WOC classic race! For the full details of this event visit www.purple-thistle.co.uk
Nope Training Week, 19th-25th August:
As if the Purple Thistle wasn’t enough quality orienteering, TNS have also organised The Nope Training Week. TNS have joined forces with the National Orienteering Centre to bring you a top quality week of training taking in some of the best areas in Speyside and along the Moray coastline. Not only have we organised the training but have even put on transport and accommodation for those who want it, taking all the hassle and allowing you to enjoy the whole week. Check out all the details here
Edinburgh Sprint Series, 3rd June: This makes its debut in 2006. Inspired by the annual Glasgow Park Championships and The Super Special Sprint Saturday in 2004 this is a 1 day, 3 race series which uses one of the most picturesque cities in Europe as its backdrop. With its mixture of old town, new town and parks, Edinburgh hosts some fantastic opportunties for sprint races to which this event allows you sample some of. A different format is used for each race just to mix it up and with all races easily accessible via public transport there is no excuse to miss it. Features
Over the past while Nopepsort’s code wizard has been working overtime improving this beloved site. On face of it you will have noticed that our gallery has had a redesign and upgrade and so too has our online training diary for your recording pleasure. (graphing and editing planned for very soon). Other superficial changes have been the BOF RSS feed and the addition of map & picture sections on the front page. Behind the scenes we have also moved to a new host allowing our site to run slicker than ever!
There are many ideas in the pipeline in terms of new features for Nopesport some of which are coming on stream soon…
The JK sees the Nopesport debut of Routegadget software to supplement our reporting and enhancing coverage of major events. We continue to look for ways to improve our reporting and coverage and hope this will be a good step forward.
We are also in the process of producing some new DVD’s and short videos for your viewing pleasure. In particular look out for a Traceur versus Orienteer DVD see who will be victorious!
Through Nopepsort’s very own in-house coaches a series of coaching articles are planned. Starting in October/November the series will take you through a whole cycle of training from pre-season winter training through to race season and right back again. All to help you design your training effectively.
This is only some of the developments from Nopesport and we hope to bring many more to you soon. If you can think of any features or ways in which we can improve our service emails us at info@nopesport.com. Alternatively, as we run this all in our spare time, if you feel you can help us enhance this please get in touch too.
